mizuno wave run 2006
what a horrid way to (re)start long distance running again. but it's ok, at least i finished the entire 10km.
reach kovan hub at 7:10 when the race is suppose to start at 7:30. obviously, i was super late, along with joe. so by the time both of us put our belongings into dev's father's car, the race was about to flag off already. as joe went to register, i tried to do whatever stretching i could in that mere 1min to try and rescue myself. needless to say, it was a futile attempt.
oh btw, i was the race crasher cos i didnt register. thomas was suppose to crash too but he didnt go. i guess it's because he had to abide by the LAW. xD
anyway, the run started and i tried following justin, andre and dev for a while (joe was nowhere to be found). after about 1km or so, i realised that i'll die if i continue at their pace so i decided to slow down a bit and let them go. reached the 2.5km mark and the guy beside me read out the timing: 10:15. at that point i realised that i'll really die soon. joe caught up with me at around 3km. that was then when i could feel the lactic flowing in and i seriously needed to stretch. so the both of us stopped at this bus stop at stretch for like 3mins (which is quite useless). continued with joe up for a while before i finally told him to go ahead and not wait for me. reached the roundabout and told myself to not stop for the next 5km.
struggled through the (very) boring route with my left leg flooded with lactic. at this point, many thoughts went through the back of my head. but i cant rmb what they were. strangely enough i was thinking of all the animes i had watched and how the anime characters always managed to pull through difficult times, especially naruto. lolx, it's wierd but that's what was in my mind a some point in time
caught up with joe at around 6km and he paced me throughout the rest of the run. it felt better when there's someone running beside me. (thanks horse). at around 7-8km, my left leg was totally numb already. right leg was slight better but still just as bad. but that didn't stop me as i continue to struggle through the last part. reached the last few hundred metres with joe still beside me. tried to gather my remaining energy for a last burst, but found none. dragged myself across the line at 63:57. slow...
i'm gonna try 10km again at new balance real run. and this time i'll make sure i reach early/on time to have a proper warm-up.
